Blood in your urine (urine) may be a sign of something wrong with your kidneys or other part of the urinary tract. The medical name for blood in urine is hematuria. There are two types of hematuria:
If you can see blood in the urine, it will be called a hematuria.
If you cannot see the blood in the urine without looking at it under a microscope, it will be called microscopic hematuria.
Anyone can have hematuria, but you may be more likely to develop it if:
They have a family history of kidney disease
Have an enlarged prostate (in men)
They have a history of getting kidney stones
Take certain medications, such as pain relievers, blood thinners, and antibiotics
Participate in exercise
